The Body of Christ...

Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.
I Corinthians 12:14

In the past week I have seen the Body of Christ working in my church family. It has been an awesome thing to witness. We had a funeral at our church on Wednesday and there were many hands that went into making this happen. Many of these people are behind the scenes, planning every detail right down to boxes of Kleenex placed strategically around the church. Food appeared in abundance in the kitchen, men moved tables and served as ushers, women worked tirelessly in the kitchen. All this to bless a family which many of them of them barely knew.

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
I Corinthians 12:12

Our church is preparing for its annual clothing drive, what a blessing to see piles of clothes showing up at the church at all hours. Next week there will be hours and hours put into sorting these clothes and making sure only the very best are offered to our community. These people do not do this job for recognition, but because they want to serve. They do not know the people who will show up at the clothing drive, but they love them anyway.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it;
if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
I Corinthians 12:26

Sunday morning at 3:00 am a storm quickly passed through our town, winds in excess of 60 mph were recorded, 890 homes were without power from several hours, and branches and trees were down all over town. At church on Sunday morning, it was announced that there would be a group meeting at our church that afternoon to help clean up the mess from the storm. Many showed up and spent most of the day blessing people by helping clean up their yards. Some of the people helped were members of our church family, but several of them were people they did not know.

We are called to be Christ's hands, to serve those in need, whether we know them or not. When the Body of Christ functions as it should, amazing things happen! Not all of us can go out and pick up branches, but within the body of Christ there is a job for everyone! Find your place and don't hesitate, serve Him the best way you can!

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. I Corinthians 12:27
