Are You Waiting?

Today is Five Minute Friday...five minutes...one word...no editing...
Today's word is WAIT.

You show up at a restaurant and are greeted with this sign...
Please wait to be seated...
You fill your cart with groceries and as you approach the checkout...there are people ahead of you...
so you wait.
You find the cutest pair of shoes and as you paying you discover the price tag is missing...
you have to wait for a price check.
You are driving home, excited to get there and you hit every red light...
waiting for a green light seems to take forever.
You make a business call...only to be put on hold...
You wait...and wait...and wait.

Sure seems like we spend a lot of our life waiting. In fact studies have shown that we will spend approximately 6 months of our life waiting in lines. If you are like me, patience during the wait can be difficult. Wait is one of my least favorite words, I truly am an impatient person.

God asks us to wait.
But they who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

While we are in the waiting room, God renews our strength...I like that kind of waiting. God always has a reason and a purpose when He says wait. Use that time to pray and study His Word, because when the waiting is over He will have something exciting for you...be prepared to run!

  1. I agree. When we wait upon the Lord and take the time to dig into His Word, He will direct us! Blessings!

  3. Yes I'm waiting. The list is long. I had a job interview yesterday. I have three kiddos in college, one graduated 2012. I learned that the things I'm waiting about aren't what so important as what I do while waiting. This post was "spot on" to where I live.

  4. it occurs to me, how we always see in self-help articles, not to waste the waiting minutes. bring a book. download an app on our phones. check our emails. and in life-waiting? the challenge... to see what we can learn while we are here. thanks for your five minute friday post!
