Five Minute Friday...Sweetly Broken...

Today is Five Minute Friday. Five minutes, no editing, just what comes to mind. Today's word is:
BROKEN

It seemed so wrong.
It wasn't supposed to end this way.
He had performed so many miracles.
He raised Lazarus from the grave.
How could He be beaten?
How could He be forced to carry a cross?
Why did they let it happen?
Poor Mary...her heart must have been broken.
When I think on the events of that Friday...what's so Good about it anyway?
I am heart broken.
Jesus...the one who knew no sin...why was He treated so poorly?
Good Friday...the day it seems like everything broke...the day that seems like the end.
It wasn't the end...it was the beginning.
Jesus did conquer the grave...HE ROSE again.
I am sweetly broken...wholly surrendered.

This song sums it up much better!!

A fun Easter tradition from my family...

Several years ago I came across a recipe for Resurrection Rolls. At the time the kids were still pretty little and I was always looking for creative ways to illustrate Easter to them. This recipe caught my eye due to the simplicity of making them and the power of what it illustrates. The rolls go in the oven filled with a marshmallow and come out empty inside. We made the rolls that year and they have become an Easter tradition in our home ever since. I thought I would share these with you as we get ready to celebrate our Lord's Resurrection.

The first step is to buy a pack of frozen dinner rolls, you could make your own rolls, but we're talking tradition and I've always bought Mrs. Rhodes Frozen Dinner Rolls!

Be sure and spray the pan first, then defrost the rolls for about an hour...

Next flatten the dinner roll out...

Then add a large marshmallow to your dough....

Wrap the dough around the marshmallow, being sure to pinch the dough together...

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise 2-3 hours...

Brush the rolls with melted butter...

Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar....put in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Ready to come out....they are smelling really good about now!

Enjoy and be sure the kids notice that where the marshmallow was, is now empty....just like the tomb.

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said...
Matthew 28:6

Five Minute Friday...rest is a good four letter word!

Yay for Five Minute Friday. I am finding today's word interesting in my life. Just two days ago I had surgery and my orders for the next several weeks are to rest...not to overdo things. Resting is easy to do now, but in a week when the pain is gone, it will be harder.  But I need to stay the course and rest in order for my recovery to be complete! So here's my take on rest today...be sure and check out more thoughts on Lisa-Jo's page

Go:

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

When you are stressed....God will give you rest.
When you are tired...God will give you rest.
God built rest into us from the beginning.
On the 7th day....God rested!
Rest is something we can feel guilty about doing.
One of the most common questions heard is "are you keeping busy".
We rarely ask each other "are you getting enough rest".
Why do we see rest as a negative thing?
Why do we feel we have to keep busy?
Resting...is good...it energizes us...it fuels us.
Don't hesitate to find the rest you need.
This requires saying no at times.
This requires setting boundaries.
As we enter this weekend, find some time to rest...rest in the Lord!

One year...

One year ago today, I watched my husband officiate a very special wedding...the wedding or our oldest daughter!
What an amazing day that was and what a fun year watching these two grow even closer.
Happy Anniversary Ashley and Larry...you two are the cutest newlyweds ever!!
